Brahmotsava Narasimha-Kshetra

BY NARASIMHA KSETRA TEAM

CALENDAR, Sep 4 (VNN) — Dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

First, please let me share with you a few impressions from our recent chandan yatra festival at Narasimha-Ksetra.

The inauguration of the festival took place already on Friday evening in form of a fire yajna invoking all auspiciousness and blessings and diminishing demoniac influences of those being adverse to the worship of the Lord. On Saturday morning, about 3 kgs (!) of sandal wood pulp were applied on the body of the Lord and the result of this was indeed overwhelming - if you doubt my words, please have a look at the attached photo!!

In the evening then, Lord Narasimha and His consort Laksmidevi surprisingly desired to enjoy Their jhulan yatra (swinging) pastime. Of course, Lord Narasimha's swing looks a bit different from Krishna's swing, same with the the mood and the kirtan mellow! :-)

But, Narasimhadeva loved it and also His devotees including H.H. Bhaktivikasa Maharaja and H.G. Manidhara Prabhu, enjoyed swinging the Sri Sri Laksmi-Narasimhadeva very much! Speaking of Krishna and Narasimha: My own realization those days as a pujari was, that although the mood of worshipping Laksmi-Narasimha is different from the mood of worshipping Radha-Krishna, the result is quite similar (due to the philosophical background provided to us by Srila Prabhupada) - my attachment to Krishna got enhanced!

On Sunday morning, all the sandal wood pulp had to be removed before the abhiseka at 6:15 o'clock could take place. For those of you who could not come to the festival, we have some consolation for you: we have kept all the maha-sandal wood paste from Narasimha's transcendental body for you (especially for the members of the Verein fŸr Vedische Kultur Jandelsbrunn e.V.) and you may pick it up when coming for our next festival, which is coming up very soon.

Second, I want to inform you of our upcoming Narasimha-Brahmotsava festival.

"Brahmotsava" designates the day on which a specific Deity has appeared (installation day). In the case of Sri Sri Prahlada-Nrsimhadeva, They had been installed 21 years ago at Narasimha-Ksetra, one day after Radhastami.

Therefore, the celebrations this year will start on Sept. 5th (Friday) and last until Sept. 7th (Sunday) 2003. All Vaishnavas from far and wide (yes, you too!) are most welcome to attend this great festival!
