VNN Standards of Publication

Read the Publication Guidelines before submitting articles to VNN

Material qualifying for VNN publication must meet the following standards:

1. Have relevance to the Vaishnava community

2. Must follow basic principles of Vaishnava etiquette:

  • show respect for all living entities
  • can be critical but must not be offensive to any individual or group
  • must not contain any offensive language (e.g. name calling)
  • must not have the discreditation of an individual at its center

The VNN wants to provide a forum for information exchange and philosophical discussion. In general putting down and criticizing other Vaishnavas is considered Vaishnava aparadha (offense). VNN does not want to become a forum for Vaishnava aparadha and gossip. If a news event involves a Vaishnava and it is based on confirmed fact then it is not aparadha to report it.

It is always inspiring to hear Vaishnavas glorified, but not at the expense of others. If at the center of an article is the attempt to prove that one particular group of Vaishnavas or acarya is superior to others or is the only bona fide, the article is not in the spirit of the VNN and may not be published.

VNN may not publish derogatory information about a Vaishnava who has left this world, regardless of who is making the statement, who is being quoted or how true the information may be. Such derogatory statements may be considered in bad taste by any standard.

3. News stories are to be reported:

  • objective
  • accurate
  • confirmed
  • cannot be based on hearsay (rumor)

4. Form of material:

  • must be in english and ready for publication (until other language version are available)
  • must not contain excessive number of typos

5. Common standards in journalism are to be followed.

6. Materials to be submitted to the appropriate email addresses:
